DAY 2:
Joey woke up before me (big surprise) but brought back our continental breakfast which was made up of a box of bread, croissants, and a chocolate pastry along with coffee and orange juice. We decided to hit up Orient Bay which was a nearby beach Joey had researched online like a boss he is. We drove about 10 minutes and found parking out front on their Main Street. It looked like any American Main Street you'd see in front of a beach. The buildings were bright, colorful and open. Joey was still hungry and bought a quarter chicken from a restaurant and I bought a little pastry for $.25 because the French know their pastries. Poor little Joseph could not find a trashcan and had to carry around his empty container of early morning chicken while we strolled.

The beach was beautiful and long with white sand and turquoise waters that became deeper blue as the ocean just went on in the horizon. Though if Neil DeGrasse Tyson has taught us anything it's that horizons are just an illusion - science fact. The beach hosted restaurants, bars, chairs with umbrellas, massages on the beach and women walking around selling hats and other novelty items such as braiding hair. With all these choices, we being children decided to spend $20 to play on a big ole' trampoline out in the water. We loved jumping up and down, diving in the water and just laying in the middle of the trampoline surrounded by water. It was money well spent as we tried to double bounce one another as man and wife do.
When we finally got out of the water we stopped at a bar on the beach that boasted their 'world famous mojitos'. We sat in bar chairs overlooking the water while I drank my very strong drink. The server then brought us colorful shots. We downed them not knowing what they were but knowing they were very alcoholic and kept on walking. We kept on walking right to the nude beach apparently which is along the same beach but is separated by rocks.
Guys, this view is so insanely gorgeous I am going to cry and throw a fit and not because this one drink is pure alcohol. |
Me and boo getting settled in our surroundings. |
We drove away from our resort to see the island some more over to Phillipsburg the capital of the Dutch side. It looked so different from the French side. Very tourist-y and busy with many more shops and we saw an ungodly large cruise ship docked so naturally we panicked and thought we would surely get the Norovirus then we left.
Heading back to the resort there was a Tex-Mex restaurant at the top of a hill near Orient Bay. It was a uniquely decorated western themed restaurant from a wagon turned table and longhorn skulls to amazing views overlooking the ocean and hillsides AND tasty pizza. When we finished eating we were given a complimentary full bottle of rum to shoot (noticing a trend?!) we only had one shot each.
Like this place looks more legit than some Texas BBQ's I've been too... |
That spicy. |
For dinner, the hotel restaurant was doing a special so we shared linguine with plenty of leftovers. A freak rain storm hit as we sat right next to the ocean that lasted maybe 5 minutes. It felt magical to be at this exact spot to see pouring rain 3 feet in front of you while you are under the safety of a roof.
Such an intense and lovely few minutes. |
Joey's favorite moment: Rain storm during dinner!
Laurie's favorite moment: Trampoline fun times.
I'D LIKE TO GO AGAIN PLZ
